SHAPE trims automotive parts at volume

SHAPE has recently undertaken a project to trim composite components at volume in the supply chain for an automotive OEM.

Adrian Mortlock, Managing Director of SHAPE Machining Ltd said, “At SHAPE we have been adding to our composite trimming and machining portfolio for several years now, having post machined gearbox casings for Motorsport, produced carbon inserts for F1 and trimmed seat backs for Aerospace”.

SHAPE Machining has the expertise to provide turnkey composite trimming and machining solutions, with an in-house fixture design team and composite CNC machining experts.

Mortlock continued “It is great to do a project with parts in this volume. We ensure that the customer is involved with the development of the machining process so the quality can be signed off and then the process locked in for consistency”.

Composite machining is becoming an increasing part of SHAPE’s business, with the team always looking for new production challenges.

Mortlock added “Our skilled machinists work closely with our machine tool suppliers to ensure we always have the right cutters to hand, allowing us to react quickly to new customer projects”.
