Commercial Placement ‘22/23r

SHAPE is looking for an ambitious commercial placement student to join our team for up to 12 months, to work on exciting motorsport, automotive, sports & leisure and even aerospace projects. In addition to the sales-based activities, you will gain knowledge of project management as well as Computer Aided Design (CAD) for composite components, assembly jigs, tooling and how a small manufacturing company operates.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Liaising with customers regarding new projects
  • Managing customers’ enquiries and advising them
  • Creation of quotes and commercial offers
  • Using CAD software to analyse customer data
  • Project management of customer orders in varying complexity, from build to print, to turn-key component production.

ABOUT YOU

We expect you to have:

  • Studied for at least two years towards a BEng or BSc in either Engineering or Business
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • A good ability to use your initiative and respond quickly to problems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of software
  • A full UK driving license (Preferred but not essential)

We’re impressed if you have:

  • Working knowledge of CATIA V5 CAD modelling software
  • Any previous commercial or sales experience
  • Previous experience in composites, machining or manufacturing
  • Have undertaken a key role in a Formula Student project
  • Knowledge of other languages such as German, French or Italian

Annual salary is paid monthly, the rate is dependent upon experience and placement duration; the successful candidate also will be eligible for an annual bonus based on company performance. Our office and manufacturing site are based in Witney, which is 10 miles West of Oxford City and has good public transport links, parking and access to local amenities. From time to time you may need to travel within the UK and Mainland Europe to visit our customers and suppliers.

Late/Night Shift Quality Inspector

SHAPE is looking for a Late/Night Shift Quality Inspection Technician to join our growing team and work within our existing non-metallic pattern shop. You will enjoy working as part of an expanding team in a modern pattern shop environment, to tight deadlines and working to exacting customer requirements. Your role will be to take ownership of inspection duties, measuring manufactured components with our Faro Laser/CMM arm to ensure they meet the tolerances specified by the customer and develop in-house quality procedures to drive continual improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Quality inspection using Faro Laser CMM arm
  • Writing of customer quality inspection reports
  • Capturing quality issues through the NCR process and drive internal development
  • Working to a delivery schedule agreed with the Operation Manager
  • You may also be required to assist in other business activities

ABOUT YOU

We’d like you to have:

  • Experience in reading detailed engineering drawings and working knowledge of GD&T
  • Excellent communication and team working skills
  • A good ability to use your initiative and respond quickly to problems
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • A full UK driving license (Preferred but not essential)

We’re impressed if you have:

  • Knowledge of Polyworks (or similar) inspection software
  • Experience of pattern making in an Automotive / Mechanical / Motorsport environment or similar

CNC Machine Operator

SHAPE is looking for an enthusiastic CNC machine operator to join our growing team. You will enjoy working in a modern pattern shop environment, to tight deadlines and working to exacting customer requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operating CMS Antares 5-axis milling machines with Fanuc controllers
  • Operating Dugard 1000 3-axis machines with Fanuc controllers
  • Blocking up and preparing jobs for machining
  • Working to a delivery schedule agreed with the Operation Manager

ABOUT YOU

We expect you to have:

  • Experience in operating CNC machines with Fanuc controllers
  • Excellent communication and team working skills
  • A good ability to use your initiative and respond quickly to problems
  • Ability to work well within a small team
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

We’re impressed if you have:
