Shape Machining Ltd expands capacity for large metal tool machining for the UK composites industry.

Managing Director, Peter McCool explained “With carbon fibre manufacture moving into more industry sectors and production volumes increasing the demand for large, high quality, metallic tooling will only increase. Shape is well positioned to support this growth.

Our ability to offer large metallic tool machining to our customers has opened up a significant market for us. There are not many companies, like Shape, that can machine such large metallic tools to exacting aerospace standards.”

Shape has supplied large aluminium tools for carbon fibre composite panel manufacture to automotive and aerospace customers.

Aluminium, steel and Inconel tools up to 5 meters in length and 2 meters wide can be machined to suit a wide variety of manufacturing processes: Hot Press Forming, Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM), Resin infusion, Autoclave cure, Injection Moulding and Compression Moulding.

Shape Machining Ltd is ISO9001 approved and all tools are supplied with a full aerospace standard “Tool-Passport” of quality documentation, as per our customers requirements.
