SHAPE MACHINES NOVEL CARBON MATERIAL
17.02.2020

Shape Machining Ltd is machining a greater variety of advanced materials than ever before. As well as patterns and foams, SHAPE is also machining Carbon inserts for the F1 and motorsport industry as well as trimming complex advanced material assemblies.

Managing Director, Ryan Muller said “We are primarily focussing our efforts on being the “go-to” company for 5-axis advanced material machining ranging from Aluminium base plates to T1000 Carbon assemblies and inserts. Aside from machining Patterns and Rohacell, we have also trimmed glass pre-preg assemblies for Aerospace and Defence customers as well other hybrid composite materials”.

The skull shown below is an example of SHAPE aiming to broaden its products and service offering and to ensure the learning is in place for when these new and novel materials become readily available on the market.

The particular type of material is a recycled Carbon made from off-cuts.

Muller added “As well as machining newly cured Carbon materials, we have seen greater interest and more focus on recycled Carbon materials. We are delighted to have been able to machine this material and assist our customer”.
